Matthew 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Is Jesus the 14th generation from King David?
Jesus's father (Joseph) is not Jesus's father - it is confusing even as I write it. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit. Jesus mother is Mary who is "espoused to Joseph". So by extension Jesus is the son of Joseph - but no, Jesus is the son of the Holy Spirit (whatever that is) and not the son of Joseph. Got it?
Joseph is the thirteen generation for David. OK, that part is easy. But is Jesus the son of Joseph? No? Yes?
Well, I am confused and so should you.
